The call of the great commission is to make disciples. Discipleship is not just an activity taken up by believers at the beginning of their walk with the Lord but something that persists until they are with the Lord in eternity. As such, the focus of our Pastoral Residency Program is to disciple our residents into the ministry.
The Lord has blessed BBC so that we can take the next step in seeking to make disciples who, in turn, will become disciple makers and leaders in the church. As such, we have created the position of Pastoral Resident. Our residency program, in dependence on the Holy Spirit, seeks to develop future elders and pastors in Christ's church. Our program is a paid pastoral position that allows men to develop their God-given pastoral gifts in a local church context. During the residency, the resident will gain experience in all the aspects of small church ministry while also benefiting from regular evaluation of their pastoral duties. In all this, the resident's own walk with the Lord is developed through personal discipleship and engagement in discipling others.
Our preference is that the pastoral resident have at least three years of college completed or be a college graduate who is either entering seminary, currently enrolled in seminary, or is a recent seminary graduate. The residency runs for twelve consecutive months.
